Homework:
Science- Study for weekly quiz on Friday
Math- Volume 1, HWR page 159

Today in class...
Science- added a load to their car and rolled it down the ramps. They then recored their observation in their note book.
Math- students solved time problems in their group.

* A permission slip came home today to use the parks and rec field for recess since testing starts tomorrow for track 1. Please sign it and return tomorrow so your child will be abl

Homework:
Math- Collins Style tonight
Science- Quiz Friday on Chemical and Physical Change, Radiation, Conduction and Convection

Today in class...

Math- Worked on elapsed time
Science- students build the cars using materials provided and a blue print. Then they tested the car on the ramp out front and recorded their obervations. They also had to expalin how Newton's Laws applied to their cars.

Homework:
Math Volume 1 page 153 #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 19, 20, 21, 22
Science- Study notes for quiz

Today in class:
Math- measurement conversions
Science- Reviewed heat transfer- condution, convection, radiation

Measurement Conversions- Customary
2,000 pounds = 1 Ton
12 inches=  1 foot
36 inches (3 feet) = 1 yard
5,280 feet = 1 mile

1 gallon= 4 quarts
1 quart= 2 pints
1 pint = 2 cups

Metric System using the picture provided students start at the unit that is known and move to the unit that that they are converting to. For example,
3,000 grams = ________kg
So, I will start at grams and move to kilograms. I moved up 3 steps so I need to move my decimal 3 spaces to the left. When moving down the steps move the decimal to the right.
So now my new number is 3. 3,000 grams = 3 kilograms

Homework:
Math- volume 1, page 151 *use notes for Metric System and Land of Gallon, students should have these notes in their binder
Science- study for quiz

Today in class....
Math- Students continued to practice converting measurement in both customary and metric systems.
Science- Students worked with in a group designing an experiment to show potential and kinetic energy.

*Newton's Laws Activity Friday* Please make sure that your child has their materials!

Homework:
Math- Collins math page
Science- Study for quiz

Today in class:
Math- coverted capacity, discussed a strategy to convert the metric unit.
Science- discussed types of heat

*Friday- Newton's Laws Experiments!
Students worked on a trifold designing an experiment for each of the three laws. This Friday students will be conducting one of the experiements with their group(who they sit with at science). They know to bring in any materials that they need to conduct their experiment by Friday and their trifold.
I am very excited!
